Robin Hood

Robin Hood

The only Robin Hood film that I know of that was actually filmed in the real Sherwood Forest was Disney's 1952 version of Robin Hood.  But all of the versions of Robin Hood are set in Sherwood Forest.  So when I had the chance to visit Sherwood Forest, and even stay closeby it, I jumped at the chance!  It was on our trip to England in November of 2024.  I was excited to stay in Sherwood Forest and experience a little bit of the legend of Robin Hood!

We stayed at an Airbnb right next to Sherwood Forest, in Nottingham.  It is located here:  Stay in Nottinghamshire  It definitely wasn't fancy, but the host was polite and helpful and we were warm on that cold, wet night.  It was the experience that I was going for, and being able to walk from our Airbnb into Sherwood Forest was pretty worth it!

While we were in Nottingham, we ate at "The Loxley," which was a lot of fun!  They had TV's at the tables, which my grandsons thought was pretty awesome.  I thought the food was great, although it took them forever to serve us!  My daughter wasn't thrilled with the food, and instead ate at nearby Taco Bell after we were done.

While we were in Nottingham we drove past streets like "Maid Marian" and we tried to visit Nottingham Castle, but we were there too late at night.

Frosty morning as we headed into Sherwood Forest
