Jurassic Park & Jurassic World Movies

Jurassic Park & Jurassic World Movies

We went on a Hawaiian cruise in April of 2026.  I was excited to visit movie sites from the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies.  We saw these sites on two different islands:  Oahu and Kauai.

Here is a clip from the movie of the arrival at the Manawaiopuna Falls:  Jurassic Park at Jurassic Falls
Here is a video of our helicopter tour over Kauai, which is very similar to the movie:  Kauai Helicopter Ride

Kualoa Ranch on Oahu, Hawaii

Only about 45 minutes from the Honolulu Airport is the site where a large portion of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies were made -- Kualoa Ranch.  There are many tours you can take, but we chose the Jurassic Adventure Tour.  Their official website is here:  Kualoa Ranch  Its google maps location is here:  Kualoa Ranch  The Jurassic Adventure Tour costs $150 and takes about 2 1/2 hours.  You ride in an open, covered shuttle to different parts of the park where Jurassic Park or Jurassic World were filmed.  We got out several times for photo ops.  I enjoyed the tour very much.  They also point out where several other movies were made on the Ranch.

Kauai Helicopter Tour

On our second day in Kauai we took a helicopter tour with Island Helicopters.  Their official website is here:  Island Helicopters  We chose the Jurassic Falls Landing Adventure, which cost $432 per person and was totally worth the money!  It is the only helicopter tour that lands next to the waterfall from the Jurassic Park movie, Manawaiopuna Falls on Kauai.  In the opening scenes of the movie, John brings Alan and Ellie by helicopter to his new adventure park full of dinosaurs:  Jurassic Park.  They arrive by helicopter and they land right next to this waterfall.  Unfortunately, the helicopter no longer lands right in front of the falls, but it does land just a short walk from it.  You enter through a gate and have the place all to yourselves to take photos and enjoy.

I am deathly afraid of heights, but on the helicopter tour I was never scared or nervous for even one moment.  Our pilot was very skilled (he turned a full circle inside an enclosure surrounded by cliffs so that we could get a great view of the waterfall - I was amazed he could do that in such a small space!) and we were belted into the helicopter.  There had been an accident the week before we came, in which a helicopter went down and 3 of the passengers died, but that was a thrill-seeking tour, and this was not.  This was a scenery-seeking tour, and boy did we get our taste of the scenery of Kauai!  If you are visiting Kauai, I 100% recommend this helicopter tour!

We received a safety briefing and then were seated and belted into the helicopter.  And then we took off on our amazing flight over Kauai!  It took about an hour and a half including the stop at Jurassic Falls.

Here is a video I took of Jurassic Falls:  Manawaiopuna Falls

Kahili Ranch on Kauai

On our Director's Cut movie tour, our tour guide drove us past this beautiful area where this scene from Jurassic Park was filmed:  Meeting the Dinosaurs  This scene from Jurassic World was also filmed here:  Dead Apatosaurus Scene and the beginning of this scene from Jurassic World was also filmed here:  Gyrosphere Goes Through Gate and also this scene from Jurassic World:  Gyrosphere Ride  The official website of Kahili Ranch is here:  Jurassic Kahili Ranch

Kahili Ranch is located here:  Jurassic Kahili Ranch

Na Pali Coast, Kauai

The Na Pali Coast is the beautiful backdrop for arrivals and departures in each of the Jurassic Park/World movies.  We went on a helicopter tour of Kauai and enjoyed breathtaking views of the Na Pali Coast.  Here is the scene from the Jurassic Park movie when they arrive at the Na Pali Coast:  Jurassic Park arrival scene and here is the Jurassic World arrival scene
